Two of the four dhams sit on one coastline, joined now by roads good enough to make the journey part of the pilgrimage rather than the price of it. We built this journey for the adult children who call us saying the same thing: my parents want to go, and I want them looked after.
So it is looked after. Darshan slots arranged in advance at both temples, wheelchairs organised where needed, hotels chosen for lifts and bland-food kitchens that understand a fast, drives capped at four hours with proper tea stops. The evening aarti at Somnath, with the sea behind the temple, is worth the whole trip and we schedule it twice in case weather or crowds interfere with the first.
